You have come up with some excellent names for the lake. My personal favourite is Stinky River. I think that describes it perfectly!
Have you ever been to Rotorua and seen the Devil's Bath? I go to Rotorua quite often but haven't visited it yet. Do you think I should visit next time I'm there?
