Activity 3: The Power of Ten

On your blog, list 10 species (animals or plants) that you would protect from extinction. For each one, give a reason as to why you think it is important to protect.


1. Black Lion Tamarin they are endangered mammals that need to be protected. They are threatened and there homes are damaged. Over 90 percent of Atlantic forest in Brazil has been gone.


2.Sumatran Rhinos are threatened by Javan rhinos and also by poaching. They are more closely related to the extinct woolly rhinos than any other species. We need to protect endangered animals. protecting rhinos helps maintain other animal and plant life in the area.


3. Marvelous Spatuletail hummingbird are spectacular birds but it is so rare and it is endangered animals. The main threat is habitat destruction. Other threats including hunting. They need to be protected before any harm.


4. Darwin's frog is very distinct appearance having evolved to look a bit like a leaf. Darwin's frog feel threatened by approaching predators.


5. The Sunda Pangolin is a species that is critically endangered. They exist. They are threatened when under attack when this specie rolls into a tight ball and protects himself.


6. Kiwis because they are harmless creatures that is native to NZ and it is our job to save them from be endangered.


7. Calla lily because they are beautiful flowers.


8. Northern quoll are Predation by feral cats is a major threat to Northern Quolls. They only have a short life.

9. White tiger because they are very exquisite and alluring animals.


10. Western Prairie best recognized by it's showy white flowers. They are endangered plants. They need to be saved or else it will become extinct.

I really like what you have done with this list. You have provided great reasons as to why you would protect each animal/plant and seem to have really thought about the order of the list.

Do you know what the difference between 'critically endangered' and 'endangered' is? I'm trying to understand the difference. Hopefully you can help me!

Critically endangered animals can lead to predators.Endangered animals can lead to critically which is close to be extinct.
