Simple machine challenge

About two weeks ago Mr Hendricks was going to pick Sive up with his thumb. He used some long
wood and a lever. One person had to stand at the wood and Mr hendricks used his thumb to push down.
It worked very well. We were all shocked. Next more students started to have a try. One  of them tried to push right down  it didn't work.
