Sumdog competition results

This is the sumdog competition results. We had started last week and we tried to beat all the other schools and we did. At the end of the week we came  second. It was a tough competition for me  because everybody wanted to win.

The Pastel Art

Yesterday we were doing pastel art .First we drew the picture of plants with pastels. Next we used the technique that we learned. We started blending through the art to make it light and dark. Last we add pastels to make the background with different colours.

Moving on to the next step

This is my strand e asttle results. I have scored a 2A which means I have moved on step. That means that I have to step up the PACE so I can move on. I need to work hard.

Going to the film festival

On Wednesday we were going to see the film festival at Sylvia Park to see the learning and the movies that everybody had done. It was the 10th film festival. We watched all the schools and some of them were entertaining.

Today this morning we did a chemical change and  we made a breakfast cup. First we put all the ingredients in cup. There was a colour change and temperature change and also there was a new substance.  This can not be reversed because it had all of the chemical changes.

Experiment

Today we did an experiment with baking soda baking powder vinegar and water. First I put baking powder and vinegar it started to rise a bit. Next we tried  putting water and baking soda

but  nothing happened. This experiment was fun because we got to see the reaction when it will froth.

Maths one step equation

Today in maths we played games on one step equations and I got some right. I got 6 points and I really do understand some of it.

Explanation Writing

Today we did a comic strip about  our learning in explanation writing. I need to work on structure and using technical words.

Basic facts

              

Today this morning I did a protect timed test. I got a 30 on stage 6 but in the previous term I got a 60 percent. I decelerate and I need to step up the pace If I want to get a good score. I am going to try and try and work hard. This is what I got wrong on stage 6. Pace Acceleration Consolidation these are the three things that I need to get there. I need to accelerate and work and to be on  stage7 .  The last time I got a 60 percent but now I went down. I want to work on the the easy ones then step by step I will work on the hard one.

   Chemical change fire

Ask a question   What  is the matches and paper  is going to look like when it it is burnt?

Construct a hypothesis( make a guess)  I think that the paper will burn as black.

Conduct the experiment   Paper and fire

Record your observations and data    Colour change, Temperature change Release of gas smoke and ashes.

Analyse information The  paper was  burnt from the fire.

Report results Today we did a experiment.  There was  chemical changes on this experiment we used paper and fire were turned out as black paper. I saw some of the chemical  changes first we had colour of the of the paper. The colour change  forms was very fast it turned into black paper. This was a new substance being formed and can't be undone.

Social media

I think that social media is fun because I like getting great comments and it is hilarious . Social media is  entertaining because I pretty think that it is just like a game . I think that social media is entertaining and it is funny too.   I like social media because Most people get followers and great comments. I believe that social media is kind of a game for me because there’s nothing else you can do. Most people or children have social media because they think it’s like a fun game. Social media can be a game because everybody likes social media all the time. I think that social media is the best because it entertains most people or children.

T4W2 Thursday chemical change

Today this morning we experiment  of the chemical change combining all the ingredients. We had the ingredients to make a something. First we combine the eggs and more ingredients.We followed the scientific method by doing a chemical change. Next we mixed everything and

we put in the heat.  When we heated it up I saw the chemical change. The bubbles formed and the temperature change, it was  also released of gas. And even there was a colour change too. I saw all the chemical changes and it cannot be reversed.

The Best Pet

Pets are wonderful. Pets are great to have and it is really a big responsibility. I have a pet cat he loves to eat and he is very smart. I love cats even though they may have sharp paws. Most cats can be misbehaved and they might be like rough dogs. I like cats because I they are very smart other than dogs. I believe that cats are the best pets because they are sensible and, awesome.

Why do you want to be remembered as?

Why do you like to be remembered as?I have many reasons that why I wanted to be remembered as.  Many of us have great ways to be remembered. Remembered is just leaving a legacy behind.

I have many reasons why I want to be remembered as a student who is doing a good effort. My first reason is that when I started school I was very shy and I had nothing to do with that until today. I have a great sport and it is soccer I am a good soccer player but I believe that I need more practice and more skills.

How I wanted to be remembered as this student?   There are many students who have a great attitude and how the teachers remembered that person as a great learner . I have a few reasons.  I wanted to be remembered as this kind  student who made a difference that most people did. I have many great and powerful reasons. Why do we like to be remembered? As most people say they like to be remembered as their older brothers or sisters. Maybe they don’t like to be remembered as a student.  Why do they like to be remembered as? As I would say I would like to be remembered as a helpful, joyful and great behaved student.

For my last reason I will always be remembered as this great student that likes sports who is creative, generous and a joyful.  I have chosen that student and that’s how I like to be remembered as.

Rangoli Patterns

Date: 19 October Thursday

This week, is the Diwali celebration. It had already started on the 18 October. This Hindu celebration is the biggest  celebration  in the world. The celebration of Diwali lasts for 5 days.

Many people believe that the gods come into a clean house so Hindus clean their houses. Most people exchange gifts and they also buy gold. They also wear beautiful clothing. Some children  light  fireworks and it is very loud. They also decorate  their house with lights that shows the festival of lights. And they also make dinner.

Room 8 we made rangoli  patterns  outside. We used some tools to start of. We also drew it with chalk and we kept on drawing. We were

paired up.People in India  use powder or  broken  rice to  make the rangoli patterns.

Today  I have learned something new that I didn’t know before. Diwali is the biggest celebration in the world.

The horrible dragon Show not tell

Intro:  It was a beautiful day as Jason and his friends were ready to go out on a outing. “Jason Jason” called Ellie as she cupped her hands.Jason and Ellie were cousins they haven’t seen each other for a long time. Jason and his friends discovered clues and interesting things that they might have seen. “Come over here” says Jake. “ I have a clue”he shouted. Jake got out his bag two look for his Ipad to see what is it.It’s a sharp tool and    there was a note behind the clue. “You are in dangerous by this creature beware beware” the note says. They all didn’t believe by this scary green huge creature. As they started looking for clues. Eille came looking  for the boys she called “ Jason where are you?”   She yelled.  She came running by  and saw the boys. “ Come on it’s getting dark out here” hurried Ellie. As they all started to  run very fast and speed. “ Tomorrow we will investigate some of the clues” says Jake.
That night a big huge creature came roaring he blews fires in his mouth Burning the trees and everything. When everybody were safe at home the news popped up. Last night   this sarcy old creature came out of his caveman he blew fires and burning the trees now he’s heading to town.Jake dropped his ice cream spreading all over himself his mouth was wide open and started  yelling.  “Ahh ahh he’s real he’s real” repeated Jason he was really in a sugar rush bouncing everywhere on the couch and on the table.  He messed up everything. Jake calmed him down sitting on the dining table.

The next day the boys started looking for some clues around the forest there were many trees all over the ground. They stepped onto it. They didn’t find any clue at all. It was a disappointment for the boys trying to look for some clues.Anyway they head home. A loud noise came “roar roar’’ says a huge voice. The big huge creature comes running towards

us we started to run very fast as we could.  The creature came running by chasing us. He was in  the  town stomping the buildings. We tried singing and singing until he collapse after an hour he fell into the ground.A big huge truck came to put the creature in a different place.

Concentric circles

This morning I learned how to use a compass   I also learned how to draw concentric circles

and measured it. I found this  difficult  because I couldn't use the compass right but I tried doing it myself. First I drew a dot and coloured it then I drew a little circle under it. After That  I measured accurately with a rule then I drew it. Next time when we do this again I want learn more about the concentric circles.

I thought it was not going well but It worked for me. I worked in a group with Cappella and Rebecca it all started of very well. It was a great idea for us to try this Round Robin writing I didn’t thought of it. It was a fun doing this Round Robin Writing. We kept on going with more papers.

Drawing a Perpendicular T3W9

Today I drew  a perpendicular it takes practices to do.My teacher taught some of  the children.I did my perpendicular on a paper then I tried doing it on my maths book.

Measuring drinks

Today was our last day visiting Nicole she bought drinks for us to measure how many sugar and caffeine it his. There were groups to be in. First we had to take two drinks and next we read the back where we find sugar and caffeine. Then we started to put some sugar in the little plastic bags.

Our sugar contains 32 grams of sugar  in the coca cola drink but we had to put 8 tsp. It was strange for me because there were 2 cup of sugar in that drink. The caffeine were just about 560 grams. Next we write down how many tsp we had already put in. It was about 8 tsp. Last when everything was finished we write how many sugar that contains and the name of the drink.

Quotation marks and singular and plurals

Today we learned about quotation marks it’s just the same as speech marks. We also learned where to put  Irregular plurals and singular. I learned something new that I didn’t learn before.

Writing T3W9 The hurricane monster

I had survived until this day. I yelled, “ help me please!”as I cupped my hands. All of a sudden the building was on fire and the building was a about to collapse. The alarm was ringing very loudly like this “ ding dong” it almost hurt my ears.What am I going to do? I yelled and yelled to call an emergency. Day after day the army people came to
look for other people I was the only one in the streets.I was a bit sad
and only the people in the army rescued me.

When I was   rescued by the army people I was scared at first but I comforted myself.They took me the airport.  It was crowded with many people. Who were rescued  from the flood and the hurricane too. As the helicopter gently came down my clothes were so wet  and someone had already prepared clothes for me. I was so thankful. Unfortunately It was very full inside with hundreds of people. On the other hand I was lucky to be one of many people who were saved.

Today was a worse day but this couldn’t come to an end. I survive and risk myself. But luckily I was rescued by the army team.

Warriors

Today we had a few of the Warriors came to talk about important things. One of the things that they talked to us is  hydration  for drinking  plenty of water. It is important to drink water for all the time during the day. The next thing they talked about is sleeping. Most boys  play rugby and they have to sleep for  11 hours.

My descriptive Writing

 I think of some creature  that has yellow glowing eyes and he is very friendly and sometimes angry. He growls and roars when he’s really angry.His skin is dark green he is very old and scaring people. Many children were crying all the time and they never came here again.  He loves eating  marshmallows and  tasted very sweet and sugary he tried to roast some.He is very slimy, and sticky he bounces like a frog in the woods acting like a cute dragon. He is most likely  to be a big green fellow scarring dragon with his dirty licking tongue and a wavy head. His breath  stink like he didn’t brushes his teeth. His sharp teeth was sharp for cutting up bread into crumbs.This person may be as wild and a dangerous green person. Next I got some beautiful fresh marshmallows to eat. All of a sudden a big huge massive person came stomping towards the marshmallow. I was  terrified of this big huge person. His eyes were just like as a dragon's face. I left marshmallow crumbs on the grass. Later that night the green huge creature ate all the delicious  food. He slurps the drink and eats the food that was left for him. Many days when families or children come to camp in the woods. This big huge devil always shows up  for his favourite food marshmallows. Sometimes the spooky woods can be dangerous  and some people put signs up like !Beware of scary devils!.Not even a person believed. Most people tried telling other people but they said. “ Scary devils don’t exist”. Devils and scary creatures don’t exist at all I think that they are dreaming of  bad creatures and telling other people or teenagers the devils and creatures exist.   These  scary creatures turned  out as a  bad nightmare for most people who believed.

 

Tongan language week

This week is Tongan language week where everybody in new Zealand celebrate Tongan language week.  These  are some of the   special  things that we call this treasure everybody in Tongan should have. These are special things that  I like. This represents the people in Tongan and it also represents who I am. I am proud to be a Tongan.

This is room 12's simple machines they made  had lots of materials that they use to make a well. It was a fun to see looking at their project.

Should grandparents get paid

Should Grandparents get paid to look after Grandchildren

I believe that grandparents don’t get paid for looking after grandchildren.These are my reasons why grandparents get paid to look after grandchildren.In my opinion I don’t think that grandparents get paid because they just babysit  children when parents go some places.

Grandparents love to help look after the children and I think that it is very exciting for them. First  reason is most parents are really busy and they call grandparents to come and look after them for the  night. second reason is that grandparents is just taking a opportunity to look after the children and it is really a big   responsibility. I think that getting paid is not worth it because they have other stuff to do. In my culture we have older siblings to come and look after us. Having grandparents is fun and  you don’t like having a babysitter you do what you want to do and not join in the fun.

Another reason is that grandparents have the time to spend  great times with the children and it is responsibility  for them just like taking them to bed for bedtime stories. Grand parents do whatever they do and children do stuff. My last reason is that some children doesn’t want a babysit they want to be alone.
