Let’s imagine that you are given a cactus for your birthday. To keep it alive, you must give it 3 ml of water every day.
Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant?
How to solve it?
Remember that 1 year is 365 day.
Then times it by 3 ml like this.
3 x 365 = 1095
Then there is your answer.
You can use algorithm to solve this problem but it is your choice.

Well done Ana! It is useful to remember strategies to solve multiplication problems with big numbers.
Kia Ora Ana,
as Miss Donaldson said, it is very useful to use strategies to solve multiplication problems with colossal numbers. I sometimes solve multiplication problems at home when I have nothing else to do. How many digits do you think, you can multiply?
Thank you Sosaia and Miss Donaldson for commenting on my blog.
The digits can be any number but not so much numbers to solve a problem. You can use partition to break up the numbers and add them.
Kia Ora Ana,
You have done a really awesome job of this Summer Learning Journey activity! It is great to read your awesome maths problem solving. I remember when I was in Year 7 I found maths really hard. Do you enjoy doing maths?
Keep up the great blogging!
Talk soon,
Sophie :)
